Clarence "Rick" Rickman, 84, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at North Kansas City Hospital. Cremation. Share a memory with us from 3:00 to 5:30 Saturday, February 20 at Rick and Sandy's home. Inurnemnt will be at a later date.
Rick was born November 1, 1925, in Newton, KS the son of Clarence and Jesse Greenbaum Rickman. Rick's father worked for the railroad and his mother emigrated from England. Rick earned his B.S. degree and then joined Trans World Airlines during the heyday years of Howard Hughes. He worked at TWA for forty three years as a mechanical engineer. Rick met Sandra Grace Furbeck at TWA and they were married in 1978 and settled in Gladstone where they were enormously happy.
Rick is survived by his wife Sandy, children; Steven Rickman and Tamara Zakout and husband Wael, grandchildren; Audrey, Yasmine and Christina, stepchildren, Rebecca Boyd and her husband Ron, Brett Glass and his wife Rhonda, step-grandchildren; Hillary, Harrison and Ted, brother Ocran(named after his Uncle Ocran, a musician), niece Rhonda Calhoun and her husband Robert, nephew Rickie Rickman. Rick's family wish to express their appreciation to Rick's caregivers, Kendall and Anna, and to the entire Furbeck family. Rick was beloved by his family and will be remembered as a talented artist, dedicated engineer, beautiful writer, spirited debater, quick wit, supportive baseball coach,avid fisherman and gardener. We love him and will miss him dearly.
