Elaine O'Bryan

Eulah Elaine O'Bryan, 86, entered into her resurrection on June 24, 2010. She was born July 26, 1923 to Herbert and Gladys Mudd who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by her husband, Richard, her brother-in-law, Harold Smith, her brother, Paul Mudd, her sister and her husband, Pat and Phil Mullinix, and her son-in-law, Gene Wilson.

Surviving her are: Monte and Rosie Mudd, Shawnee, KS; Ann Smith, Erie, KS; Doris Mudd, North Kansas City; Sister Frances Ann O'Bryan, St. Louis, MO; Tony and Carol O'Bryan, Norman, OK; Patricia and Guy Chapman, Portland, OR; Jan O'Bryan-Wilson of the home; Annie Jolly, Kansas City; Michael O'Bryan and Suzi Smith, Travelers Rest, SC; and Christa O'Bryan, Kansas City. She is also survived by Patrick O'Bryan and his wife, Carol; Kellye Sparling and her husband, Steve, Greg O'Bryan, and their mother Fran O'Bryan; Steve Jolly, Ryan Jolly; Josh Morris and his wife, Daphne; and Callan and Bennett O'Bryan. There are nine great grandchildren, Sam and Jack Sparling, Daniel and Jacob O'Bryan(twins), Quintin and Clayton Jolly, Chloe and Calie Morris(twins) and Joel Morris. There are numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Elaine and her family traveled to many places due to Richard's career in the U.S. Navy. Her six children were born in Fort Scott, Kansas; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; San Diego, CA; and Honolulu, Hawaii. The family settled in Kansas City in 1961 where her husband finished his career and retired from the Navy.

Elaine was a faithful and active member of St. Peter's Cathedral Parish, a founding member of the famous 'Fritz's Breakfast Club', and widely known as 'Queen of the Tacos' at the O'Bryan house. She was a prayerful, kind, and gentle person who made everyone feel welcome in her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 29, 10:30am,

at St. Peter's Cathedral with Reverend Harry Schneider presiding. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Fort Scott, KS.

The family most gratefully extends a special Thank You to her doctors, Compassionate Care Hospice, and her devoted in-home caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her name be made to the Sister Servants of Mary or to St. Peter's Cathedral.
